MAPIC Online Community helps you identify and get in touch with the key contacts who will be most useful to your business.

This tutorial sets out a simple, step-by-step guide to making the most of MAPIC Online Community.

Learn how to:

  • Identify and attract the right contacts by adapting your personal and/or company profile
  • Get maximum exposure for your product profiles by adding, photos, google maps link, videos and documents to your product profiles
  • Build up a personalized network of contacts
  • Find peers and potential partners using the search tool
  • Create your own personal conference and event schedule
  • Contact and be contacted using your MAPIC Online Community Mailbox. You can keep your personal email address private if you prefer.

Minimum system requirements:


The minimum system requirements for MAPIC Online Community are as follows:
  • Your computer will need a 56K or higher modem with an Internet connection.
  • You must have a valid e-mail address.
  • Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4); Windows XP (Service Pack 2):
    - Internet Explorer 7.0 or later
    - Firefox 2.0 or later
  • Minimum Mac® OS X 10.3.9 or later:
    - Firefox 1.0.7 or later
    - Safari 1.3 or later
    - Mozilla 1.7.12 or later

To generate maximum networking opportunities, you can access MAPIC Online Community both before and after the market.

LOGGING IN
 
ACCESS via http://www.mapic.net


To start using MAPIC Online Community, enter your Personal Login in the field marked ‘Personal Login’ and your Password in the field on the MAPIC Online Community homepage.
 
PERSONAL PROFILE
Creating a personal profile allows you to explain to other delegates what you are looking for at MAPIC 2009 on a individual basis / presents yourself to other delegates.

This will allow you to:
  • build up a network of contacts closely matched to your business
  • see the resulting contacts and related opportunities displayed automatically on your Dashboard
  • be identified as a potential contact by other MAPIC Online Community users when they are searching for participants who match their areas of interest.



1. On your MAPIC Online Community Dashboard, click on ‘Edit personal profile’
 
 

3. Fill in the details as required. If you choose to hide your email address from other participants, all emails will go to your MAPIC Online Community inbox. If you choose to show it on your profile, all emails sent to you via MAPIC Online Mailbox will automatically go to your usual email address.
 

4. Here you can browse through pictures to upload your personal photo. Picture size can be up to 100 Ko (JPEG or GIF format files).
 

5. Highlight your Main activitie and your Main genre by selecting in the drop down menu.
Highlight activities and genres in the box to the left and add them to your profile by clicking the arrow pointing to the corresponding box on the right.

If you change your mind, highlight what you want to delete from the right-hand box and click the arrow pointing back to the left.
 

Click on to go back to your profile page and see the changes you’ve made.

 
USER TIPS
It's important to set up your personal profile as early as possible, so that the MAPIC Online Community tool can get to work finding potential contacts for you.

Choose the activities and genres that you’re most specialized and interested in. The more tightly focused your choices, the more effective will be the contact network that MAPIC Online Community builds for you.
COMPANY PROFILE
Generate an effective network of contacts and related opportunities for your business by creating a Company Profile. It is a dedicated page that highlights key informations about companies attending MAPIC. 

You can modify your company profile online by clicking on ‘My MAPIC > My company & products’ in the navigation menu.
 

 

 

Then click on ‘Update’.

 


In the "My Company Profile Update" form you can change your company information, upload a logo, or choose a new main contact for MAPIC 2009.

Here you can browse through pictures to upload your Logo. Picture size can be up to 100 Ko (JPEG or GIF format files).

Once you've filled in your details, click on ‘save’ to see the changes in your company profile.

 
USER TIPS
The more accurately you specify your objectives and interests, the more effective MAPIC Online Community will be at finding potential contacts suited to you and your business.
REAL ESTATE PRODUCT
Ensure that your time at MAPIC is as productive as possible by using your Real Estate Product profiles to:

  • give maximum exposure to your product profile by using a images, videos, and Google Maps Links
  • Image files should not exceed 100 Ko (JPEG or GIF format files).
  • generate interest from other MAPIC participants

To showcase your products, simply complete the relevant profile with a short description. You can create up to 3 product profiles. For each Real Estate product, you can upload three images and three documents or videos.

Click on ‘Add a Real Estate Product’ in the middle of the page to go to the Real Estate Product Profile Update page.
MATCHMAKING
Use the MAPIC Online Community matchmaking tool to contact and be contacted by your key business target

The database will automatically identify the right contacts for you to meet as well as identifying you as a potential contact to other participants.

Once you’ve filled out your personal profile, go back to ‘My MAPIC’ to see the network-building opportunities MAPIC Online Community has found for you based on the genres and activities and genre you have selected.

Sort through the profiles by category:
- Companies
- Participants
 


Every time you go to your homepage, MAPIC will let you know about any newly-arrived companies and participants. Click on the ‘new’ buttons to see the details.

The Matchmaking opportunities are displayed in random on your dashboard.

    Add participants email addresses to your MAPIC Online mailbox address book allows you to keep lists of potential partners and projects on your "MySelections"' page. You can also choose to find potential partners yourself, by using MAPIC Online Community´s simple yet exhaustive search engine.

    You can then bookmark participants, companies and product profiles.

SEARCH
BOOKMARKING

You can bookmark up to 1000 bookmarks.

Bookmark a company, a participant or a product profiles as you go through your search results and create your own shortlist. You can also save your search criteria to get FAST ACCESS to data each time you use MAPIC Online Community.
You can access your bookmarked pages and your saved searches by clicking on the navigation menu 'My MAPIC > My Bookmarks'.

 


When you click on a search result, its profile is shown. This example is a company profile from a company search.

You can forward bookmarked pages by clicking on ‘forward profile’. This will take you to a mailbox ‘compose message’ page with a link to the bookmarked profile in the new message.

 
Bookmark a profile by clicking on the Star.  Then you will have your bookmarked profile into your ‘My bookmarks’ page.
 
SAVE SEARCH
Save your search criteria to get faster access to information each time you use MAPIC Online Community.

The Save Search function stores your search terms for you, so that you can quickly and easily repeat the same search in the future. This enables you to identify useful contacts newly-arrived on MAPIC Online Community since last year’s market, or since your last search.

When you’ve performed a search and have a results box for search terms that you want to keep for future use, click on ‘Save search’.
 

• Click on ‘Save search’,
• A pop-up box will appear.
• Enter a title for your search and click ‘OK’ to save.
• You can then carry on creating new searches using different search terms.


 
To see your saved searches, click on ‘My MAPIC > My Bookmarks’.
 
MY SCHEDULE

Create your own personalized agenda for the MAPIC 2009 by selecting conferences and events. You can review your schedule at a glance by clicking on My MAPIC My schedule. You can then print or download it into your MS Outlook calendar.

 
 

• To see a list of events and add them to your schedule, click on ‘Conferences and Events’ in the navigation menu.
• Then search conference sessions by date, theme, format, speaker.
• To see a list of all conference sessions, just click on ‘Find Sessions’ without selecting any search criteria.
 

Add a conference to your schedule


Click on the arrows beside the ‘Date’, ‘Title’ or ‘Theme’ headings to change the order of the results.

Click on a conference session title for more details.

To add a session to your personal schedule, click on the relevant box in the ‘Add’ column.

 

Click on the download icon to download a session or event to your Outlook calendar.
A red exclamation mark means the timing of this event conflicts with another one in your MAPIC schedule.
 
MAILBOX

The MAPIC Online Mailbox system allows you to send and receive messages to and from other MAPIC participants without showing your e-mail address.

To compose a message, click on ‘Mailbox > Compose message’ in the navigation menu:

 


This box is your address book, and includes the email addresses of the participants you have bookmarked

Highlight the contacts you want to send your message to, then click
the arrow key to the box below, to add them to the list of recipients.

The lower box is the recipient field. If you change your mind and decide not to send the message to a particular contact, highlight that person in the recipient box, then click on the up arrow.

You can send messages to external email addresses by adding them here, but only if a MAPIC Online Community participant is also a recipient.   

 
USER TIPS
You can attach files of up to 2Mb to your messages, and have copies of your MAPIC Online Mailbox messages sent to your usual email address.

If you find it more practical, you can choose to display your professional email address on your personal profile page and receive incoming mail directly to your usual email address. To do so, just change your settings in My Profile > Update profile.
