Welcome to MIDEMWorld – the MIDEM online community.
MIDEMWorld helps you identify and get in touch with the key contacts who will be most useful to your business. You can also use it to create a personal conference and concert schedule.
This tutorial sets out a simple, step-by-step guide to making the most of MIDEMWorld.
Learn how to:
- identify and attract the right contacts by adapting your personal and/or company profile
- get maximum exposure for your catalogues and/or services by adding music files, photos, videos and documents to your catalogue and service profiles
- build up a personalized network of contacts using MIDEMWorld matchmaking
- find peers and potential partners using the search tool
- identify newly-registered potential contacts with the save search function
- create your own personal conference, concert and event schedule
- contact and be contacted using your MIDEMWorld Mailbox. You can keep your personal email address private if you prefer.
To generate maximum networking opportunities, you can continue to access MIDEMWorld until one year until November 2008.
Minimum system requirements for MIDEMWorld
The minimum system requirements for MIDEMWorld are as follows:
Your computer will need a 56K or higher modem with an Internet connection.
You must have a valid e-mail address.

LOGGING IN
To start using MIDEMWorld, go to the top right corner of www.midem.com. Enter your Personal Login in the field marked ‘PersonalLogin’ and your Password in the field marked with dots.

Your Personal Login and Password will have been sent to you by email following registration. If you have lost your login details, please select the "forgot password" option.
STEP 1: As soon as you have correctly enter your Personal Login and Password, you must scroll to end of text to be able to choose “agree” or “don’t agree”, then click "Validate"
STEP 2: Then choose your Email option.

Creating a personal profile gives you instant access to MIDEMWorld matchmaking.

Choose the activities and genres that you’re most specialized and interested in. The more tightly focused your choices, the more effective the contact network that MIDEMWorld will build for you.
- build up a network of contacts closely matched to your business
- see the resulting contacts and related opportunities displayed automatically on your MIDEMWorld homepage
- be identified as a potential contact by other MIDEMWorld users when they are searching for participants who match their areas of interest.

COMPANY PROFILE
Generate an effective network of contacts and related opportunities for your business by creating a Company Profile.
In the ‘My Company Profile Update’ form you can change your company information, upload a new logo, or choose a new main contact for MIDEM.
The more accurately you specify your objectives and interests, the more effective MIDEMWorld will be at finding potential contacts suited to you and your business.

CATALOGUE AND SERVICE PROFILES
Ensure that your time at MIDEM is as productive as possible by using your catalogue and service profiles to:
To showcase your catalogues and/or services, simply complete the relevant profile with a short description. You can create up to 6 product profiles (3 services and 3 catalogues). For each catalogue, you can upload one image and one music file. For each service, you can upload one image and one document.
Go to ‘My MIDEM’ and click on ‘My Company’ in the left-hand navigation menu.
Click on ‘Add a service’ or ‘Add a catalogue’ in the middle of the page to go to the Service or Catalogue Profile Update page. If you’re adding a catalogue, the website will ask you to agree to terms and conditions for uploading music files before it allows you to navigate to the Catalogue Profile Update page.
- give maximum exposure to your catalogues and/or services by using a variety of media (images, sound, video or pdf files)
- Image files should not exceed 250x250 pixels, 50 Ko and 72 Dpi (JPEG or GIF format files).
- Sound files should not exceed 5 Mo (MP3 only).
- Other files should not exceed 3 Mo (Word, Excel, PDF, Powerpoint, WAV, MPEG, AVI or MOV format files).

MATCHMAKING
Use the MIDEMWorld matchmaking tool to:
The database will automatically identify the right contacts for you to meet as well as identifying you as a potential contact to other participants.
Once you’ve filled out your personal profile, go back to ‘My Home’ to see the network-building opportunities MIDEMWorld has found for you based on the genres and activities you have selected.
Sort through the profiles by category:
- Companies
- Participants
- Catalogues & Services
- Conferences
You can also choose to find potential partners yourself by using MIDEMWorld’s simple but exhaustive search engineYou can then bookmark participants, companies and catalogue & service profiles. Bookmarking:
- build a network of contacts drawn from a pool of over 4.605 companies and 9.481 participants from 91 countries
contact and be contacted by your key business targets.
The database will automatically identify the right contacts for you to meet as well as identifying you as a potential contact to other participants.
Once you’ve filled out your personal profile, go back to ‘My Home’ to see the network-building opportunities MIDEMWorld has found for you based on the genres and activities you have selected.

You can also choose to find potential partners yourself by using MIDEMWorld’s simple but exhaustive search engineYou can then bookmark participants, companies and catalogue & service profiles. Bookmarking:
- adds the participants email address(es) to your MIDEMWorld mailbox address book
- allows you to keep lists of potential partners and projects on your ‘My Bookmarks’ page.
SEARCH
Use the MIDEMWorld Search Engine to find full participant, company and catalogue & service profiles, including the contact details and interests of other attendees.
Click on ‘Search’ in the left-hand navigation menu to go to the search box.
The basic search allows you to search by:

Once you have a search box open, you can navigate between Basic, Advanced and Catalogues & Services searches by selecting the tabs at the top of the search box.
Once you’ve filled in the search term fields, click ‘search’. A results box will appear:

You can choose whether to search for companies or companies plus participants.
A catalogues & services search allows you to search for catalogues and services by:
- Activity
- Service Keyword
- Genre
- Catalogue Keyword
You can choose to restrict your search to catalogues with music.
Once you have a search box open, you can navigate between Basic, Advanced and Catalogues & Services searches by selecting the tabs at the top of the search box.
Once you’ve filled in the search term fields, click ‘search’. A results box will appear:
BOOKMARKING
Bookmark company, participant and catalogue & service profiles as you go through your search results to create your own shortlist. Your bookmarks are displayed automatically on your homepage so you can see your shortlist at a glance. You can also access your bookmarked pages by going to My Midem > My Bookmarks.
SAVE SEARCH
You can save all your search results at any time. You just have to click the bottom button in the results pages like below: the saved search results will be automaticly displayed in "your bookmarks"

MAILBOX
The MIDEMWorld Mailbox allows you to exchange messages with other MIDEM participants without showing your e-mail address.
To compose a message, click on ‘Mailbox’ and then select ‘compose message’ in the left-hand navigation menu:

You can attach files of up to 2Mb to your messages and have copies of your MIDEMWorld Mailbox messages sent to your usual email address.
If you find it more practical, you can choose to display your professional email address on your personal profile page and receive incoming mail directly to your usual email address. To do this, just change your settings in My Profile > Update Profile.
